Introduction
The transition to a sustainable energy future calls for materials and devices that can store and convert energy efficiently, safely and affordably. At the Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion Laboratory (EESCL), Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati, we investigate the materials and electrochemical processes behind next-generation energy technologies.
Led by Dr. Ranjith Thangavel, our research spans sodium- and lithium-ion batteries, multivalent aqueous batteries, hybrid capacitors, organic batteries, biomass-derived battery materials and electrocatalysis. We design and study advanced electrode materials with a focus on energy density, power performance, cycling stability and sustainability.
Our work brings together materials synthesis, structural and surface characterization, electrochemical evaluation and energy device engineering. By connecting material properties with device behavior, we aim to contribute to practical solutions for cleaner energy storage and conversion.
